Confident Learners, Capable Leaders

ARMADALE PRIMARY SCHOOL

LEARNING PHILOSOPHY

At Armadale Primary School, we believe every child belongs and learns best when supported by a caring, welcoming community. We nurture not just academic skills but the whole child and support our students grow their curiosity, creativity, confidence, persistence, and kindness. Our learners become thoughtful, independent thinkers who are motivated from within, take ownership of their learning, adapt and work well with others.

We create a respectful and inclusive environment where children feel safe and connected to their friends, which supports their wellbeing. Our teaching focuses on what works best to help every child reach their potential, with learning that is tailored to their needs and challenges them to grow. This commitment to personalised learning and learner agency helps our students achieve academic excellence alongside strong social and emotional development, building solid foundations for lifelong success both in school and beyond.

Academic Rigour

Our rigorous academic framework is designed to deliver measurable results through structured learning, clear expectations, and a strong focus on student achievement. High standards are consistently maintained through ongoing teacher coaching, ensuring quality instruction, accountability, and continuous improvement across all areas of learning.

Wellbeing & Holistic Development

Resilience Building Programs support children and young people in developing confidence, emotional regulation, and positive coping strategies. Through social-emotional learning, participants build self-awareness, empathy, communication skills, and resilience to better navigate challenges, strengthen relationships, and support overall wellbeing.

Strong relationships & Community Engagement

Our coaching and mentoring programs connect students with dedicated staff who provide guidance, encouragement, and support. Through strong teacher-student relationships and peer buddy programs, every student is known, valued, and supported within a connected and inclusive school community.

Our Learning Model

Our learning model is carefully designed to make the most of every 60-minute lesson, ensuring that each child is supported, engaged, and challenged at the right level. Our leadership team continually reviews and refines our teaching approach so that every lesson has a meaningful impact on student learning. New skills and knowledge are introduced through clear teacher modelling and shared learning experiences before students have opportunities to practise and apply them independently. Teachers work with students in small groups throughout each lesson, allowing them to respond to individual learning needs. This means children receive extra support when they need it, or additional challenge and extension when they are ready to move further.

Throughout the lesson, teachers regularly check for understanding, address any misconceptions, and use this information to plan the next steps in each child's learning. This approach helps students build confidence, develop deep understanding, and achieve mastery of important skills and knowledge over time.

Learning To Thrive

Academic Programs

At Armadale Primary School, learning is purposeful, engaging, and centred on the whole child. We are a school that leads with academic excellence while thoughtfully integrating social-emotional wellbeing, creativity, and strong community connection into everyday learning. Grounded in evidence-based teaching, our approach builds strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving.

We believe every child can thrive when supported, challenged, and known as an individual. Through explicit instruction, meaningful learning experiences, and high expectations, students develop confidence, resilience, practical skills, and a genuine love of learning. By blending strong academics with creativity, collaboration, and wellbeing, we prepare students not only for success in the classroom, but for life beyond school.

Student Wellbeing

At Armadale Primary School, student wellbeing is woven through every aspect of school life. In our connected and supportive community, every child is seen, valued, and encouraged to thrive. Strong relationships between students, staff, and families foster a genuine sense of belonging where each learner feels safe, respected, and supported to grow with confidence.

While we maintain high expectations for learning and achievement, we equally prioritise the social and emotional wellbeing of every student. Guided by our values of Relationships, Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, and Reflection, we nurture capable learners who are empowered to contribute positively to their community and the world around them.

We recognise that every child’s journey is unique. Through rich academic learning, personalised support, and meaningful opportunities for connection and growth, we are committed to helping every student flourish, both in and beyond the classroom.
